Bike Racks
Our products are only tested for secure and safe mounting on our own roof racks. Therefore we cannot guarantee the compatibility with non-Thule roof racks. If your roof bars have a T-Track slot, allowing 20 or 24 mm T-track adapters, we may be able to supply the right solution for you, depending on your specific bike rack.

Not every Thule Bike Rack can be extended with an extra rail. In our product range that would only be possible for the Thule Euroclassic G6 929 (for 3 bikes), Thule Velospace 926-927 (for 3 bikes) and Thule Velospace XT 938-939.

Compatibility when mounting a tow bar rack is less dependant on the car design and more specifically dependant on the car's tow bar specifications. A tow bar must meet the following criteria:
- The towbar should be normalised (ISO50).
- The maximum load capacity of the tow bar must certainly exceed the weight of the bike rack AND the weight of the bicycles you wish to load.
- The distance between the tow ball and the car bumper should be at least 6.5 cm.
- The tow bar must be made out of steel or at least an equivalent material. Tow bars made out of cast iron (GGG40) or aluminium are not to be used in combination with our bike racks.
- The electrical connection must be 7-pin or 13-pin (see your local & legal specifications).
- The socket cannot be located directly on or just below the tow ball.

If your car has a standard metal-sheet rear spoiler, there is a chance that the car can have a rear door mounted rack, please consult our Buyer's Guide on Thule.com for compatibility.
If your car is equipped with a plastic rear spoiler, there is a very high chance you will not be able to mount a bike rack on the hatch as these plastic spoilers are too weak to support the weight of the rack and mounted bikes. Again, please consult our Buyer's Guide on Thule.com for compatibility.

We cannot guarantee a 100% compatible installation for all bikes, as there are many different kinds of models, each with their own suspension, weight, frame size and/or accessories. We always advise to do enquire regarding a potential test mount at a local Thule Dealer store before purchasing.
Please note that not every Thule bike rack is suited for any type of bike: a certain type of bike might require a very specific type of Bike Rack. Your Thule Dealer can help you making the perfect choice.

As long as the maximum weight per bike is not exceeded, you could indeed choose amongst our wide range of Bike Racks. Please note though that E-bikes are rather large, wide and sturdy, while on some of our models there is limited space on the supporting platform or in between two wheel gutters. Our recommendation is to choose a bike rack where your bikes are comfortably held by the wheeltrays and straps, and where the bikes are not rubbing against each other, such as our Thule Easyfold XT and Thule Velospace XT. We advise to do a test mount on the models shown in the Local Dealer's showroom.

You can mount carbon fibre bikes on any of our products that feature torque limiter knobs (e.g. Thule ProRide 598, Thule EasyFold XT, Thule Velospace XT and bike racks equipped with the Thule AcuTight Knob 528 accessory) in combination with our Carbon Frame Protector 984. The Thule Upride 599 roof mounted bike rack is also recommended for bikes with sensitive frames such as carbon, since it clamps onto the bike's wheels. The Thule ThruRide is a fork-mounted roof mounted bike rack that clamps onto the original Thru-axle and can support most Thru-axle bikes made out of carbon.

Every Bike Rack has its own wheelstraps and these cannot be replaced by other straps, except for the Thule Velospace XT and Thule EasyFold XT. On these two carriers, the straps can be replaced by the Thule XXL Fatbike Wheel Straps.

All of the latest tow bar mounted bike racks can be tilted with the bikes mounted and have a standard tilting angle of 50°. Therefore, on most vehicles, access to the luggage compartment is possible. Our Thule Velospace XT 939 has an ajustable tilting angle from 50° to 70° for easy access to the boot of vehicles with very large hatches.
Please understand that the boot access cannot be guaranteed nor tested on every single car model because of the wide range of tow bars, and their positioning. The exact tow bar model and it's positioning onto the vehicle will eventually determine whether a hatch can or cannot be opened with the bike rack tilted. We would therefore advise you to enquire regarding a potential test fit at your local Thule Dealer store. You can find the closest Thule Dealer in your area via our website: Thule.com.

You must always respect the indicated weight for each bike separately. This rule is the same when mounting one or multiple bikes. It is thus not possible to reduce the number of bikes loaded, in order to increase the max weight per bike.
